Our Vision

CLS Dorset aims to create positive alternatives to tackle local economic and environmental challenges, and foster resilience among local communities.

We will create new and strengthen current mechanisms for action to support sustainable living, working with existing community networks and anchor organisations in areas of need across Dorset.

Our goal for the next three years is to extend our reach and embed the CLS message into every Dorset household and business by delivering pioneering initiatives to:

Build a stronger green economy in rural towns

By working with producers and service providers to strengthen local supply chains, promote local products and services, and support social enterprise start-ups.

Get Renewable Energy on the map

Through capitalising on the high interest in the Dorset Community Energy share issue, and by extending our Community Woodland network, across the whole of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty area.

Promote Resource Efficiency and Greener Choices

Delivering an extensive and varied behaviour change activities programme, e.g. Open Eco Homes and Transition Streets, drawing people together to reduce carbon and build community, through providing advice and training for communities.

Eating more sustainably and locally

By rolling out our pioneering sustainable food work in Bridport to other towns in the county, supporting small producers and community initiatives, and generating momentum around campaigns such as the Sustainable Food Town Award

Educating the younger generation

Through helping 20 more schools to achieve Eco Schools status, building pupil awareness and capacity and supporting curriculum integration.

Supporting better Public Health

By addressing the links between health and wellbeing, food and the natural environment, working with high profile services such as Live Well Dorset.
